  15. <p>     DIED. James Jordan, 57, father of Chicago Bulls basketball star
  16. Michael Jordan; of a gunshot wound; last seen in Wilmington,
  17. North Carolina. Jordan, who owned a T-shirt manufacturing company
  18. with his wife, had vanished in late July following a funeral
  19. for a former co-worker at the local General Electric power plant.
  20. Jordan's family, used to his business-related absences, did
  21. not report him missing, and a search was only begun three weeks
  22. later after a red Lexus found stripped in the woods near Fayetteville,
  23. North Carolina, was revealed to be his car. Finally investigators
  24. determined that a body discovered in a creek in McColl, South
  25. Carolina, in early August was Jordan's decomposed remains. The
  26. FBI has opened a kidnapping investigation.
